Welcome To The Bonaire WebCams!
This
Web site is the home of the a number of WebCams featuring the Caribbean island of Bonaire.
Bonaire
is a small Caribbean island located 80 miles (130 km) east
of Aruba and 50 miles (80 km) north of Venezuela. Bonaire
features the easiest scuba diving and snorkeling in the
Caribbean, thanks to the fringing reef which surrounds the
island, and allows for shore access over most of Bonaire's
leeward side.
If
you want to discuss or share what you've seen on the Bonaire WebCams,
the best place to do this is on BonaireTalk,
especially in the dedicated BonaireTalk
WebCams section.
Our
shopping section offers merchandise
and vendors we've selected specifically for visitors to
this site. Our first shopping area includes links to various
books, videos, and other educational
materials which will help Bonaire WebCams visitors learn
more about Bonaire, nature, diving, fish identification,
and perhaps even assembling a basic WebCam kit of their
own.
Learn
about us, get some technical
and historical information about the Bonaire WebCams
project, or check out our list of Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQ). Of course, we can't afford to
do this all for free, which is why there's an advertising
banner on each page - help support this Web site, and get
your message in front of thousands of visitors a month by
advertising on this site.
Finally,
our main business is the design and installation of customized
all-climate WebCam systems for Caribbean-based resorts,
hotels, and destinations. If you want to tease and tantalize
your potential and existing clients with a real-time peek
at what you have to offer, visit our main Caribbean
WebCams, LLC corporate site.
Bonaire
WebCams Updates
November 10, 2008 - Thanks to the valiant efforts of BonaireTalk moderator extraordinaire, Martin de Weger, we have three of the WebCams at Eden Beach back up and running again and we have added them to the site again. Hurray. The only true victim of Tropical Storm Omar appears to have been the Pier ReefCam. We will be working on a replacement towards the end of the year.
October 17, 2008 - We regret to inform our members and viewers that Tropical Storm Omar significantly damaged the infrastructure for the four WebCams we had at Eden Beach, namely the Pier ReefCam, the South BeachCam, the North BeachCam, and the BeachBarCam. These cameras will be off-line indefinitely, and as such we are removing viewing links to those WebCams from this site for the time being. The weather station has also been rendered non-functional, so that information too will be removed from the site. Once we are back on island in early November and have assessed the extent of the damage to our systems (which, from initial reports and photos, appears significant, we will post updates on our future plans here and on BonaireTalk).
June 25, 2008 - Sorry about the outage, folks. We had a major malfunction with a disk controller. The whole site has been moved to a new server. We think we have most things working correctly now. We do expect to implement some fixes over the next week to issues we worked around today, so there is as chance some things might not work right at times.
Archive section does appear to be working properly, but most of the images from 2007 and 2008 are not accessible. We will be copying that data into the new server over the next week.
